Reflecting on John 12:34-36“Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” (John 12:36)
While Jesus was on earth, He revealed the glorious goodness of God’s love.
He showed humanity what God is like, and how humans were made to be like.
Jesus is a shining example of the Adam life, in the likeness of God.
He is urging the people then, and us today, to pay close attention to Him.
Behold the light of His life, believe in it and walk in it.
Why… so that we can become children of the same light, in God’s likeness.
We cannot be with Jesus while He was on earth; that time has passed.
But we have recorded the experiences of those who did, the stories of Jesus.
We can see the light of His life and love in action – God with us.
Through them we can still behold, believe in, and walk in His light.
I am constantly reading and reflecting on the light of God in the Jesus stories.
I am like the moon; I do not produce light, but I reflect it when I see the Son.
The more I behold the light of God’s love in Jesus, I become what I see.
Jesus not only said that He was the light of the world, He said that we are too.
I want to see Jesus, I want to reflect Jesus, I want to shine with His love!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, only You can restore me to the light and likeness of God - not Moses, not David, not Peter, not Paul. As I contemplate Your glory, I am being transformed into Your image with ever-increasing glory. Shine, Jesus, fill my life with Your glory!
Practicing the Way. Light Shine. We all need the true Light or we stumble and fall. Jesus is that Light – the Light of the world. I need to walk in that Light and that Light needs to from me.
