Reflecting on John 17:1-5“Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.” (John 17:1)
When Moses asked to see God’s glory (Exodus 33:18-19, God revealed His glorious love.
“The compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. (Exodus 34:6-7)
This is Who God is, and this is the glory that Moses glowed with when he experienced it.
Jesus is strengthening Himself in God’s glorious love to prepare for what is to come.
We were made to know and to show this glorious love of God.
The original creation overflowed with this glorious love, as did Adam and Eve.
As God’s son’s and daughters, they were imaging God’s glorious love.
They lived in intimate oneness and harmony with God, each other and the world.
This is what life is all about: knowing and showing the love of God.
Jesus becomes Adam (human) to restore this glorious reflection in all humanity.
But now He faces the ultimate test, where Satan will try to break Him.
Jesus wants to stand firm, to keep on loving to the bitter end – for God’s glory!
If we want to show this love like Jesus, we also need to know it first – to glow with it!
We need to be filled with God’s glorious love if we will shine with it to others.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, glorify me with God's compassionate , gracious, patient, abounding, faithful, enduring and forgiving love, so that I may glorify God with that same love, for all the world to see. I want to KNOW Your love that I may SHOW Your love!
