That’s my king!

Posted on September 6, 2017September 5, 2017 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 15:16-20
“Hail, king of the Jews!” (Mark 15:18)
How can this scene even be possible?
God’s Word made flesh subjected to hurtful human words.
The authorities taunt and torment the Authority.
How can God endure such mockery, from those He made?
The irony is that what they say is true.
And the kneeling they do now, they will do again!
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
And every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord.” (Philippians 2:10-11)

Jesus is king of the Jews… and king of the whole creation!
We may choose or refuse to confess or bow now, but one day we all will.
Willingly or unwillingly, one day everyone will recognize the truth.
This scene is stirring within me the desire to bow and confess!
I’d rather serve the One Whose love could bring Him to suffer like this.
Jesus, with all my heart, I declare: ‘You are my king, the king over all!’
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I am ashamed to be human for how we treated You. And yet You knew us fully, and were not ashamed to become one with us to save us. That’s love. That’s my king!

    Jesus was under the Romans and their cruel methods. In their ‘fun’ with this royal King they were actually saying truthful words. Though they mocked Him they bowed down to Him as we all will do one day – and they again.
    My life I need to live in His service this day. I must be a living witness in all I do and say. Help me this day Lord to be a soldier of the cross.

    Am I a soldier of the cross,
    A follow’r of the Lamb?
    And shall I fear to own His cause,
    Or blush to speak His name?

    Must I be carried to the skies
    On flow’ry beds of ease,
    While others fought to win the prize,
    And sailed through bloody seas?

    Are there no foes for me to face?
    Must I not stem the flood?
    Is this vile world a friend to grace,
    To help me on to God?

    Sure I must fight if I would reign;
    Increase my courage, Lord;
    I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
    Supported by Thy Word.

    Thy saints in all this glorious war
    Shall conquer, though they die;
    They see the triumph from afar,
    By faith’s discerning eye.

    When that illustrious day shall rise,
    And all Thy armies shine
    In robes of vict’ry through the skies,
    The glory shall be Thine.

think about it!

The difference between involvement and commitment is like and eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was involved – the pig was committed.
