Reflecting on John 3:31-36
“Whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.” (John 3:36)
Jesus embodies the perfect life of love “from above”, the life we were made for.
He is compassionate, patient, gracious, loving, faithful and forgiving.
But what happens to those who reject this nature, who refuse this love?
Not just those who don’t believe in Him, but who choose the opposite of love?
The real Jesus comes to show us Who and how God is, yet some didn’t like it.
Those in power, those who benefited from cruelty, these ones rejected the Son.
They crucified the love and compassion of God, which they rejected as weakness.
Ultimately those who refuse to embrace and embody God’s love will be dealt with.
God’s wrath is not uncontrolled rage, but the love of a Mama Bear.
God is rightly angry at those who are cruel and abusive toward His cubs.
These verses are not just about people who do not believe in Jesus.
They are about those who reject love, and choose to be live the opposite.
God is loving and compassionate to everyone, giving us time and room to respond.
But in the end, those who adamantly refuse God’s love and compassion will lose it.
For our Mama Bear in heaven will not allow cruel abusers into His ‘very good’ kingdom.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I embrace Who You are and Who You represent - the God of gracious love. It is not for me to punish abusers and bullies, but may they know that I do not support their actions, and will stand up for the weak and needy, like the Mama Bear You are!
