Reflecting on John 3:1-21“Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” (John 3:21)
Not all people loved the darkness; many also came into the light (John 3:21).
There is a link between the light of Jesus and the life of Jesus.
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:4-5)
The life of Jesus is what shone, people saw the glory of God in the life of Jesus.
People saw the glory of God’s compassion, grace, patience, love, faithfulness and forgiveness.
But not everyone was blessed by this… namely the strong and the religious.
Those in positions of advantage and privilege, those for whom life was enjoyable as it was.
Those living the good life here were not drawn to the real good life in Jesus.
But many were: crowds of sinners, tax collectors, sexual sinners, foreigners.
As Jesus followers we are drawn to the light of Jesus’s grace and truth.
We not only long to experience this love, we long to share it with others.
There is nothing more glorious than a person that glows with Jesus-like love.
Am I living in this love in Jesus, am experiencing it myself?
Am I living out this love, shining with God’s glory in this dark world?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, not everyone wants to let go of their darkness... but many others do. I not only want to come into the light of God's compassion, grace, patience, love, faithfulness and and forgiveness, I want to shine with it. May the light of Your glorious love reflect in my life, that others may come into that light as well!
Light Shine. His light needs to shine in me and through me each day as I am in Him and He is in me. Others can tell we are Christian by our love, the love of Christ whicch is in me and shines through me.
