Under his wings!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 91

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Under his wings you will find refuge.” (Psalm 91:4)
This verse is not saying God has wings.
The psalmist compares God’s care to that of a mother hen.
The Lord gathers us like a hen protects her young with her wings.
But if this is true, why do many believers suffer (91:10)?
This is a real challenge, and I don’t have a good answer.
But I do believe it, and do find shelter in the Lord!
As a Jesus follower, Jesus is ‘God with us’ coming to help us.
He is the wings of God wrapping around me, protecting me.
“How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” (Matthew 23:37)
The cross shows us how far he will go to protect and save us.
Sadly, not everyone wants this: “you were not willing.” (Matthew 23:37)
God longs to cover us under the ‘wings’ of Jesus – am I willing?
Am I surrendering my life, my struggle, my future to his care?
PRAYER
Lord, you’ve got me surrounded and supported under your ‘wings’. Help me to trust you and to surrender myself to your care.

  1. “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” There are a lot of things to be anxious about – I find. Yet I take comfort in knowing that I belong and that my Heavenly Father – the Almighty one protects me. Help me to deal with my unrest at times. Help me to be more trusting each day – knowing that the Lord will work things out! One day there will be complete rest – in the meantime help me to live and work and be -under the shadow of God’s wings!

  2. God is my Refuge means that I am enfolded in His loving care. I am in the arms of Jesus. At all times He is with me empowering me to trust Him more and more while living for Jesus. He will take care of me. Emmanuel. He supplies all my needs each day anew. He is ever present in all I do and say. I am His and Ha is mine and the banner over us is love. I just need to go forward each day knowing the He will tak care of me if I but trust and obey.

    God will take care of you.
    2 Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
    God will take care of you;
    When dangers fierce your path assail,
    God will take care of you. [Refrain]
    3 No matter what may be the test,
    God will take care of you;
    Lean, weary one, upon his breast,
    God will take care of you. [Refrain]
