Our creation glory revealed!

Posted on January 28, 2016January 27, 2016 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Luke 9:27-36
“Some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:27)
In Genesis 1, we see the kingdom of God in Adam and Eve’s appointment over creation.
“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)
Adam and Eve, reflecting the glory of God, ruling over God’s creation.
God said of them to all creation: ‘these are my children, my chosen ones, listen to them!
In this moment, Peter, James and John see the new Adam reflecting the glory of God.
Through history Satan succeeded in dethroning God’s children… but not Jesus.
Through His victory, Jesus now has dominion over all creation, and we share in His authority.
In Jesus we see the kingdom of God – this world under the rule of God-like humanity.
Jesus does not reign like worldly authorities; He rules with God-like grace and love.
He raises up other ‘children of God’ to reign with Him with God-like grace and love.
This is how we see the kingdom of God today – when Jesus-like people live, love and serve.
We may feel and look weak in the world, we may suffer and even die.
Yet like Jesus, behind our ‘ordinary garb’ we are clothed with the glory of God.
And when God sees us He says, “This is my Child, my Chosen One; listen to him/her!”
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, we were all created for this glory. Thank You for reminding us of who we were made to be. As we see You in all Your glory, we catch a glimpse of our own creation destiny!

    Observation/Application
Jesus took Peter, James and John – why these three and not the others. Special preparation for lives of service. Remember the healing with only these three disciples present?
These three, as all of Jesus’ followers have significant roles to play – serve Him. Listen to Him. Hear the voice saying – This is the way. Walk in it.
How did Peter recognize Moses and Elijah? Truly a heavenly view when we all will no longer see through a glass darkly.
But in the meantime, serve Him. Walk in the Way. Walk in His SonShine always.

    All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
    Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
    Jesus doeth all things well,
For I know, whate’er befall me,
    Jesus doeth all things well.

think about it!

We frequently misunderstand what the Bible says, because we misunderstand what the Bible is.
