A blind man who sees!

Posted on November 29, 2015November 28, 2015 by Norm

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 10:46-52
“‘Go,’ said Jesus, ‘your faith has healed you.'” (Mark 10:52)
Desperate hope that will not let go.
The disciples with Jesus rebuke him and shoo him away.
But this blind man sees something in Jesus that ignites his hope.
‘Son of David’ was another way of saying God’s promised messiah.
While doubting minds debated and disputed, his desperate heart had no doubt.
When no one else would have mercy on him, God’s promised saviour would.
It was this confidence, despite opposition, that marked him in Jesus’ eyes.
Persevering prayer, clinging to hope against all odds, trusting God…
These are the things that characterized the faith God notices.
Faith is not believing in a creed, it is clinging to God.
There are many people who claim to believe the creeds, yet cannot see.
And there are many who next to nothing about doctrine or creeds, yet they see!
“Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, ‘What? Are we blind too?’ Jesus said, ‘If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.'” (John 9:40-41)
Do you see with desperate hope, or more with creedal assent?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, more than a faith that understands, give me a faith that sees like this blind man, a faith that heals the heart, soul, body, mind!

    Observations/Application
    Jericho.
That’s where the walls fell and the people saw the power of their awesome God.
Bartimaeus means honour. he certainly did not receive honour or the dignity the mankind deserves. In his outcast position he calls upon Christ and Jesus hears Him. Bartimaeus eagerness in response is seen in his reaction to the call. He jumps to his feet. her he was sitting in the dust and dirt of the city where God had done great things and . . . He would do again. The man did see once upon a time and now was blind but Jesus made him see. Jesus open the eyes and . . . possibly the eyes of the many eyes that did not have the eyes of faith like Bartimaeus had. May many eyes have been open that day.
    Open my eyes Lord.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

think about it!

Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He’s going to be up all night anyway.
