SCRIPTURE: Psalm 48 When God is at the centre (of a city, a nation, a fortress, or a person’s heart), there is hope, security and joy. The psalmist is thinking in terms of Jerusalem, with the temple at the centre, and how God makes them confident. But we can apply this to our own lives, to…

When familiarity breeds contempt
SCRIPTURE: Mark 6:1-6 Wow, Jesus could not do miracles among those who knew Him best. Is it possible that people who are close to Jesus can actually be closed to Him, and not experience His blessing? Is it that we take Him for granted, or that we know too much, and it confuses or distracts us…
Trust is better than fear!
SCRIPTURE: Mark 5:35-43 It is my belief that what Jesus did, we could do, with God’s help and for His purpose. Jesus was not exercising God-power as God, but as a human that trusted God, and was empowered by the Holy Spirit. Fear and unbelief are destructive, limiting forces that hold people back from God’s best…

SCRIPTURE: Mark 5:21-24 What do you sense the Lord saying to you? PRAYER Mark 5:21-24 NIRV Jesus went across the Sea of Galilee in a boat. It landed at the other side. There a large crowd gathered around him. Then a man named Jairus came. He was a synagogue ruler. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet….
Rejoice the Lord is king
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 47 Imagine being bullied for years, then finally having someone stand up for you, protect you and put you in a position of authority. Think about the joy you would feel, the deep gratitude you would have towards your protector and benefactor. This is the feeling behind Psalm 47, the praise of the victim vindicated….

Tell them how much the Lord has done for you
SCRIPTURE: Mark 5:14-20 I have heard interesting theories as to why the spirits wanted to be sent among the pigs (one person theorized that demons need bodies to survive; if so then killing pigs was unhelpful). The reason is obvious: they wanted to scare people away from Jesus. This is how Satan and his helpers work,…
Discerning the spirits in my life
SCRIPTURE: Mark 5:1-13 Do you believe that there are spirit beings out there, good and bad? This man was possessed by a legion of evil spirits; occasionally this can happen, but I also think that all of us are harassed by evil spirits (and helped by good spirits). We are not helpless puppets against them, we…
