    The Wellness industry is working on all cylinders right now. Just as the women in this story had gone to see many doctors about her condition, only to get worse, we would do the same. It is one of the basics of life, that we want to be well. Without our health, nothing else really matters. Having status, or money, or power, all are meaningless if we are in pain, or are suffering physically.

    There is no magic bullet to be relieved from pain. We have drugs that can deaden the pain, but that does not necessarily give us the quality of life we are looking for. This woman put her hope in Jesus. She must have been introverted, and certainly wouldn’t want to talk about her condition with a huge crowd around. I don’t know how she figured that if she just touched the clothes of Jesus that she would be healed. Why would that be the case? But perhaps because she believed it to be true, it was true for her. She was healed by her action of touching Jesus’ clothes.

    Why did Jesus then decide to make public the healing? Why did he not just let her go on her way? Perhaps he wanted her to acknowledge that she was healed, and to let her know that it was ok to ask for a healing from God. God wants the best for us, and he wants to give it to us.

    I don’t know why God does not heal everyone, but I do know, based on this and other stories, that I will go to Jesus for help in time of need. God does promise to be with us in times of trouble. I am to seek him for the source of my needs. Jesus said to the woman, “Go in Peace, your faith has healed you.”

    I pray that I will know to seek God as the source of help in my time of need. I pray that the faith of Jesus and faith in Jesus will provide the answers that we need to carry on in our lives.

    Observations/Application
    Yes, the people came to Jesus for physical healing. After all, the people had heard of the ‘miracle worker.’ The women had suffered a long time and came to Christ also and was healed – physically and . . . spiritually. For all who come to Him and believe will be saved. What greater peace and freedom can there be? Her faith in Christ healed her. She came forward and shred with Him and all who were there her struggles. She was an outcast and yet spirit driven. No longer was she alone but was forever in His company – healed, forgiven, saved, alive forevermore.

    Prayer
    Once again Lord I see my need to be at Your feet. Lead me and guide me this day through as I work and live in His presence in all I do and say.

    Come to the Savior now,
    He gently calleth thee;
    In true repentance bow,
    Before Him bend the knee;
    He waiteth to bestow
    Salvation, peace, and love,
    True joy on earth below,
    A home in Heav’n above.

    Come to the Savior now,
    Ye who have wandered far;
    Renew your solemn vow,
    For His by right you are;
    Come, like poor wand’ring sheep
    Returning to His fold;
    His arm will safely keep,
    His love will ne’er grow cold.

    Come to the Savior, all,
    Whate’er your burdens be;
    Hear now His loving call,
    “Cast all your care on Me.”
    Come, and for ev’ry grief
    In Jesus you will find
    A sure and safe relief,
    A loving Friend and kind.

think about it!

Prayer is so simple. It is like quietly opening a door and slipping into the very presence of God. There, in the stillness, to listen to His voice, perhaps in petition or only to listen. It matters not. Just to be there in His presence is prayer.
