Reflecting on John 14:22-27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” (John 14:27)
Jesus promises a new relationship with God, through Him, by the Spirit.
The Spirit of God comes, and in this way the Father and Jesus come.
Here again we see the threefold fullness of God – over, with and in us!
And the result is restored understanding and a heavenly peace.
The Spirit both reminds us of this, and renews us in it.
Jesus was filled with the fruit of God’s Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and people sensed it.
There was a love, a joy and a peace that was not like we know.
Jesus is assuring His followers that they can experience this life too.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Jesus mentions peace here, but all of these qualities are included with it.
That Spirit constantly reminds us of this, like a broken record.
I pay attention to the whispers and nudges towards love, joy, peace, etc.
This is the benefit of being in restored fellowship with God.
Is this how being a Jesus follower shows in you, and do others sense it?
Are you listening for the Spirit of Jesus, nudging you towards love, joy, peace…?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I want to be filled with, formed by and overflowing with God's fullness, and the resulting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. May Your Spirit keep reminding me of these things!

Jesus did what He promised and we have the Spirit helping us to live for Jesus. I need open ears and eyes that see so that I may hear His leading, This is the Way. Walk in it. Help me Lord in practicing the Way, producing good fruit.
