The gift that grows when given away!

Reflecting on Luke 19:11-27

“I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given…” (Luke 19:26)

This story Jesus tells is based on a true story.
When King Herod died in 4 BC, his sons went to Rome to be appointed king.
Caesar ended up dividing the region between three: Archelaus, Antipas and Philip.
Each one went back and rewarded their supporters, not their opponents.
Jesus is NOT saying that He will be like them, killing His opponents.

We need to remember WHAT it is that everyone has, or loses.
In the parable it is money; with God and Jesus it is gracious love.
Everyone is loved, everyone is blessed, for everyone receives.
Those who reject love and refuse to be loving, end up losing it.
This is just common sense; try rejecting love and refusing to be loving.

Love is a blessing that multiplies when it is both received and shared.
But it also diminishes when it is not – those who refuse to love, are not loved.
In our world, rulers only favour those who favour them (one ruler comes to mind).
With God and Jesus, everyone is favoured, but not everyone accepts it.
We love because God first loved us; His love multiplies if we invest it in others!

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You are not like Caesar, Archelaus, Antipas and Philip, nor are you like any current equivalents. You freely distribute God's love to everyone. Help me to multiply Your love by sharing it with others!

Love makes the world go around. Love is putting others first – Jesus, Others, and then yourself. That brings JOY and that JOY is my strength and song. I can be a channel of His peace when in all things I put Jesus First.

think about it!

Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hand but yours, no feet but yours; yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion looks out on the world; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now.
