Reflecting on Luke 19:11-27
“The people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once.” (Luke 19:11)
We also know this parable as the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14ff).
Luke tells us why Jesus told this parable, to explain how the kingdom appears.
The meaning seems to be that Jesus is already king, but is not currently with us.
We have been left with His kingly power (money) to work on His behalf.
Those who do not want to live and work the Jesus Way, will misuse this power.
The kingdom of God has been established, but it does not appear at once.
Our king is not with us, but He has left His kingdom workers.
We are called to invest in the way of the kingdom, like our King did.
The powers entrusted to us are not worldly powers.
They are the work of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, etc.
As followers of Jesus, everyone can do something for love.
All have the opportunity, whether 10 minas worth or 1.
The kingdom appears as we take these opportunities, and invest in love.
If all Christians used His power to multiply love, joy, peace, things would improve.
He has re-established the kingdom, but it is our calling to work it out with His help!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You have given me a mission, a calling, a purpose. You have entrusted me with God's gracious love, and joy, and peace. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, in my life as it is in heaven.

I serve a risen Saviour, Jesus Christ my Lord and King. He needs to be FIRST in all things like my: – Finances, Interests, Relataionships, Schedules, Troubles. I am one of His Kingdom workers and may others see that – Christ Jesus living in me.
