PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 25:14-28
What do you sense Jesus saying to you in this passage?
“Each according to his ability.” (Matthew 25:16)
Jesus uses the example of a wealthy tyrant to make a point.
The wealthy man in this story is not meant to be the ideal.
(Similar to the parable of the desperate woman and unjust judge).
The point of this story is about our response to opportunity.
Use your abilities and resources to do something good.
Invest yourself and your life for God’s kingdom of love!
“I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.” (Luke 16:9)
We do not all have the same abilities or opportunities.
But we all have opportunities, and response-abilities!
Use them in whatever way you can to make friends, not enemies.
Seek justice, multiply mercy, show compassion, harvest goodness!
As a Jesus follower I can add my own ‘two cents’ of goodness.
If every Jesus follower did this, there would be plenty for all!
Lord Jesus, instead of focusing on the negative help me to see every situation as an opportunity to somehow use my abilities for good. Help me to exercise my response-ability!
