The oil of the Spirit in me!

Posted on June 10, 2025June 10, 2025 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 25:1-13

What do you sense Jesus saying to you in this passage?

“Like ten virgins who went out to meet the bridegroom…” (Matthew 25:1)
Jesus is building God’s kingdom of perfect goodness and love
This parable describes how some christians will not be prepared.
I see the virgins in this parable as representing christians.
These are the people who know the bride and bridegroom.
They are all looking forward to the wedding to begin.
But only some of them are sincerely looking forward to it.
That is, they are working towards goodness and love in advance!
They are seeking and using the oil of the Spirit of Jesus!
That Spirit is igniting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc.
Being prepared is not about doing enough good works to get in.
Christians are already loved, welcome friends of the bride and bridegroom.
What about christians who lack compassion, kindness, mercy, justice?
They show they do not really know the bride and bridegroom.
And the bride and bridegroom won’t recognize them either!

Lord Jesus, You burn brightly with love, joy, peace… and are spreading that flame in me as well. Help me to be a wise and not a foolish christian, to sincerely seek the fruit of Your Spirit burning in me!

think about it!

In the noise and clatter of my kitchen, while several persons are at the same time calling for different things, I possess God in as great tranquillity as if I were upon my knees at the Blessed Supper.
