PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 24:45-51
What do you sense Jesus saying to you in this passage?
“The faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge.” (Matthew 24:45)
As the world crumbles around us, how are Jesus followers supposed to lead?
We are ‘put in charge’ to love and care for fellow servants, like Jesus did.
“It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so.” (24:46)
Jesus warns unloving and abusive ‘servants’ that they will regret it.
They were ‘put in charge’ to care for others, not make life harder.
Religious leaders used ‘hell’ to ‘beat’ other servants into compliance.
Jesus uses ‘hell’ to challenge unloving and cruel religious leaders.
Those who cause misery will inherit misery (the meaning of ‘hell’).
Those who cruelly treat fellow servants will also be ‘cut to pieces’.
As a Jesus follower, I need to take Jesus’s warning seriously.
He is not being unloving; He is showing the natural result of being unloving!
There’s enough hate and hurt in the world; we are here to bring hope and healing!
Do I want to inherit joy and not weeping?
Then I need to bring joy and not weeping to others!
Lord Jesus, You are calling me to be faithful and wise, to care for the people You’ve assigned to my care. I want to help, not hurt others, with my words and actions.
