Reading through Matthew 18:1-14

Posted on April 7, 2025April 14, 2025 by Norm

This week (April 7-13, 2025) we are focusing on Matthew 18:1-14.

Pray for the Spirit of Jesus to speak to your heart. Watch the Bible Project video below (Part 2) to review the big picture. Read this chapter through a few times, with silent reflection. Make note of any words or sentences, thoughts or questions that arise.

What is one thing that especially stands out to you at this time? Write this one thing down in the comments below. In the next 6 days I will reflect further on some of these.

PRAYER: Lord, use these words to comfort, challenge and motivate me that I may grow stronger with you as I follow your way!

These are good words… so long as we read them personally, and not in judgment of others. The church loves to point at ‘sinners’ and say ‘unless YOU change’. I hear Jesus pointing back at the accusers and saying, ‘no, unless YOU change!!!’ We need to hear these words like I know you mean them, as Jesus looking at each one of us personally and saying, ‘unless YOU change!’

In this case the disciples were wanting to be great. This had to change. YOU need to change your selfish way of thinking, YOU need to be humbled, YOU need to become like a little child, and not like a great leader.

Thanks M. I hear Jesus speaking to me in these words.

think about it!

It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching.
