PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 5

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good…” (Matthew 5:45)
God’s generous goodness is on display everyday in creation.
Like Paul says, there is no excuse for not seeing it (Romans 1:26-27).
Jesus is the clearest and fullest revelation of this love.
He turns the other cheek, goes the extra mile, and gives freely.
He comes for, forgives, dies and rises for the evil and the good.
This kind of love – not feel-good love – is what God wants from us.
Do I do this… no, not even close… but I wish I could.
It is because God is patient with me that I strive to be patient.
It is because God goes the extra mile for me, that I want to do the same.
This is the essence of the Jesus Way, yet not it seems of Christianity.
What is your experience of Christianity and church – is this evident?
Jesus said people will know we are Jesus followers by our love – do they?
Our love needs to go beyond the pagans (v.47) and the pharisees (v.20).
This is what it means to follow Jesus… do you want to follow Jesus?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, in love you have blessed me and restored me as God’s child. Help me by your Spirit to reflect the love of the Father for all his other children!
