The Emmaus Way – learning with Jesus for 89 weeks!

Posted on November 12, 2024November 12, 2024 by Norm

“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.” (Luke 24:27) “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) “Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” (Luke 24:44) “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:45)
Two months ago I stopped my daily bible reading reflections.
I felt like I needed a break, but now I am missing my reflection time.
I also felt the need to change the way I read the Scriptures.
This coming Monday, November 18, I am restarting my bible reading reflections.
I will be focusing on the Gospels for 89 weeks, one chapter a week.
For me, knowing Jesus is the key to understanding the bible.
As Jesus says, the point of the bible is to lead us to Jesus (John5:39-40)
As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, he opens our minds to understand the bible.
Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, the living Word speaks to us personally!
May our hearts burn within us as he opens the Scriptures to us!

I echo Rose’s comment. I have also missed your meditations. Looking forward to studying the gospels with you and others.

think about it!

God allows us to experience the low points of life in order to teach us lessons we could not learn in any other way. The way we learn those lessons is not to deny the feelings but to find the meanings underlying them.
