We reflect what we focus on!

Posted on May 8, 2024May 7, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 11:33-36

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“See to it that the light within you is not darkness.” (Luke 11:35)
Jesus is talking about how our lives can glow – or not.
If our focus in life (eyes) is healthy, it will show in our life.
People will see the glow of goodness and be drawn to it.
If our focus is dark, that will emanate from us too.
Jesus is speaking about our heart and mind and character.
What we set our eyes on is what we are seeking and desiring.
Do we seek and desire to bless others, making life brighter?
Even for ourselves, is our life focus healthy for us?
Jesus is challenging me to consider what I am focusing on.
Sometimes I do feed and pursue dark or gloomy thoughts.
They do not make me feel better, and not nice to be with.
If I want to feel full light, I’ve got to “see to it!”
Jesus is like the sun and we are like the moon.
We reflect light when we see – focus on – him!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to focus on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, excellent or praiseworthy, so that this is what shines from me!

Disconnected – gloomy days and without purpose/meaning. Sometimes life is a bit like Ecclesiastes. “See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.” These disconnected days are days when I’ve been to focused on other things and forgetting who and whose I am. I lose my ‘light’. Even the challenging times are easier when I have the light and I can see beyond. Lord help me not get carried away but rather keep me closer to you – not losing sight of the light!

    Light shine.
When walking with the Lord in the light of His Word others will see His light shine in us and through us and they will know us as Chritians by our love. That love is shown by our doing. Our living for Jesus – the Light of the world.
But when we walk with man made lights, we stmble and fall for it creates daarkness, hiding truths, choosing ways that serve self interests, falling deeper to the pit holes of the road not knowing here we travel because that light just casts shadows.
Each day anew I need to walk with my God and He will show me the walk to walk in His SonShine.

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
    he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

think about it!

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory, but progress.
