Do I hear what Jesus is saying to me?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 8:1-10

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” (Luke 8:8)
Apparently not everyone uses their ears to hear.
A person may hear something, but they might not listen.
A person may hear something, but they might not understand.
Anyone who is a parent knows this with their children.
You might think that this would make Jesus speak clearer.
But Jesus uses parables to separate those who listen and those who won’t.
A parable is a story with a deeper meaning or application.
It requires you to think through the words to the meaning within.
I believe the whole bible contains parables, truth in story form.
Hearing God requires a seeking heart and mind.
Those who actually want to hear, will hear, for God will help them.
But those who go in with their hearts and minds closed, won’t get it.
The disciples were told, because they were sincerely seeking.
The Lord will reveal his truth to us too, if we sincerely seek it.
PRAYER
Lord, when I take the time and make the effort, I can usually sense what you are saying to me through bible stories. May my ears continue to hear your voice as I read the bible.

  1. Fertility: “Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
Jesus tells a parable – to help explain something deeper – especially when it comes to understanding something about the kingdom of heaven – his kingdom and the kingdom ways changes lives. But its for those who hear – those who take it up – then it yields – brings change. For me it’s about having eyes of faith – so that it all makes sense – I get to understand and grow in knowing more about Jesus and His Kingdom and to share with others who are willing and able to hear. That’s where the HS comes in – not only to enable me but also to enable and open the ears of listeners! That’s when it is fertile!

  2. To hear means to do. When one listens, he takes it to heart and acts upon the hearing. If there is no doing to the hearing, one hasn’t heard. To hear means to know – to love – to do. Open my ears Lord so that I may live according to Your Word and others may see Christ Jesus living in me.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
    I want to see You
    I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
