Grace upon grace!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: 2 Samuel 7-8

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Who am I, Sovereign Lord, that you have brought me this far?” (2 Samuel 7:18)
As a follower of Jesus I can relate to David’s words.
Who am I that I get to call God my father (2 Samuel 7:14)?
How can God bless me, when like David I have my own sin issues?
Why would God be will to work with a flawed human family?
Jesus comes to fulfill this promise to us (7:16).
He becomes one with us, a member of our human family.
He pledges God’s eternal love for us (2 Samuel 7:15).
This amazing grace is for everyone, no matter who they are!
I need to make this personal, to ponder his grace to me.
Despite my flaws and weaknesses, how has the Lord helped me?
I can think of ways God has used me to bless others.
I can think of breakthroughs and victories (2 Samuel 8:1-14).
Whatever is good in my life, it is all grace; he gets the glory!
Who am I that God should bring me this far?
PRAYER
Lord, it is all grace, from beginning to end. Help me to see that this is true for everyone else as well!

  1. “Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me[b]; your throne will be established forever…For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant.”
“When we walk with the Lord and in the light of his word” so the hymn goes. It continues: “What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do his good will he abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.” David is successful as God enabled him – and it is for God’s glory too – God wants his people though to pass on that blessing – to be a blessing to others. We carry that on – as we bless others God will continue to bless us and enable us to be a blessing – not for ourselves – but so that we can glorify Him – may we be good ambassadors of His grace in spite of our own human limitations and prone to seek for ourselves!

  2. The Lord was with David. The Lord God is also with us. Emmanuel.
Hitherto the Lord had brought us. Ebenezer.
I need to see how the Lord has brought me to this place serving Him. It by His hand I am where I am. May others see Him living in me. He enables me each and every day. He is my encourager. Great is His faithfulness to me. At all time I need to serve the living God to be an instrument of His peace. He enables me. Open my eyes Lord so that I see Your hand upon my life All for Jesus.

    Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
    Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands.
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands.

For it’s only in Your will that I am free,
For it’s only in Your will that I am free,
    Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
