Held firmly!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 75

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“It is I who hold its pillars firm.” (Psalm 75:3)
God created us as free agents in this beautiful world
But with that came the risk that we would choose evil… and we did.
By our folly, we have turned God’s kingdom into a dominion of darkness.
God is not responsible for the mess of this world… we are.
And yet, by grace, God has not let go of creation.
God’s loving hands keep this world from spiraling out of control.
From our point of view, the world does seem out of control.
But it isn’t; if evil had free reign, we would no longer exist.
God restrains evil, God redirects our freedom towards a better outcome.
Our freedom is surrounded by God’s sovereignty – thank goodness.
Jesus fully surrenders himself to the Father’s sovereign grace.
And the Father uses him to re-establish the creation kingdom.
Jesus invites us to be be held firm in the Father’s hands.
Will you submit yourself to the One who holds your pillars firm?
PRAYER
Lord, my life is in your hands, and there is no better place to be!

  1. “It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.” God does so with mercy and grace. He judges wisely – and because of Jesus not always with justice: as we don’t get what our sins deserve – we get mercy and grace through Jesus – who perfectly meets the justice requirements of the covenant based on law. All I can say: “Thank God!” – its not up to us – to mankind – but up to Jesus who along with the Father and the Spirit is God!

  2. Each day anew I greet the Lord and give thanks for the day which He has created to serve Him. That is my task. But in this world there are those who exalt themselves , praise themselves, bask in their own pride, living their way and not His Way. They will be brought down for it is God’s world after all. He is in control. We all need to acknowledge His sovereignty. We either praise the Lord or we fail to give Him the praise, honour and glory He deserves.

    1 All glory, laud, and honor
    to you, Redeemer, King,
    to whom the lips of children
    made sweet hosannas ring.
    You are the King of Israel
    and David’s royal Son,
    now in the Lord’s name coming,
    the King and Blessed One.

    2 The company of angels
    is praising you on high;
    and we with all creation
    in chorus make reply.
    The people of the Hebrews
    with palms before you went;
    our praise and prayer and anthems
    before you we present.

    3 To you before your passion
    they sang their hymns of praise;
    to you, now high exalted,
    our melody we raise.
    As you received their praises,
    accept the prayers we bring,
    for you delight in goodness,
    O good and gracious King!
