Motivated by his mission!

Posted on January 22, 2024January 12, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 2:41-52

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49)
Jesus had a clear sense of God’s calling for his life, even as a boy.
His motivating drive was to serve God as his Father.
This motivation guided his decisions and actions all through life.
What do I wake up every morning determined to be and to do?
Some people know this very clearly, but many are vague on this.
A vague purpose is as dangerous as a wrong purpose.
I sense Jesus challenging me to revisit my sense of life purpose.
Am I determined to follow and serve Jesus, to join him in His mission?
Is this my guiding motive as I go through each day?
What if someone asked me for a one sentence summary of my life purpose?
The Lord is often reminding me to renew my sense of purpose…
To grow as a follower of Jesus, and to help others do the same!
It starts with me, “growing in wisdom” (v.52) before I try to share it.
How about you, what is your guiding motive or life mission?
PRAYER
Lord, my my mission be clear to me, and also to those who find me doing whatever it is I am doing.

“After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.” Three days – what about the evenings – who was Jesus with? I can only imagine the conversations and debates that Jesus had with these experts of the Torah and the prophets. Jesus was a young boy – so not a threat. I’m sure many of the leaders would have remembered Jesus 18years later when he started to circulate as a rabbi? Jesus had their respect then, later they feared him and wanted to do away with him. As I grow in faith I too revel in God’s word and try to understand and am blessed with new insights! Thanks be to God especially for the gift of the HS!

I greet the Lord God each morning – a new day to serve Him. I am retired but as His servant, one can not retire from serving Jesus. That is a life long commitment. I will serve Him volunteering as long as I am able. Starting a Bible study is another way to serve Him. Others need to see that I am serving my King by what I say and do. I continue to grow in His Way.

    Praise Him, Praise Him,
    All you little children,
God is love, God is love. (repeat)

    Love Him…
    Thank Him…
    Serve Him…

think about it!

It is in the ordinary duties and labors of life that the Christian can and should develop his spiritual union with God.
