Focusing on, flourishing in… the Jesus Way!

Posted on October 2, 2022October 1, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 1

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Blessed is the one who… meditates on his law day and night..” (Psalm 1:1-2)
For the Old Covenant believer the Moses Law was the heart of their faith.
As followers of Jesus, Jesus is the heart of our faith, and we focus on him.
Jesus is not different from the Law, but goes deeper and further than the Law.
He shows us the full extent of love for God and neighbour.
To meditate on Jesus is to set our minds on his life, and how he loved.
Day and night he walked in the way of God’s love, and we want to do this too.
The more we meditate on the Jesus Way, the more it will become a part of us.
“The mind governed by the Spirit (of Jesus) is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)
This is the fruit of the Spirit of Jesus, yielding itself in us in due season.
The Spirit of Jesus produces this fruit, but we have to do our part as well.
It is not enough to meditate on Jesus, we need to “walk in step” (Psalm 1:1) with him.
“Since we live by the Spirit (of Jesus), let us keep in step with the Spirit (of Jesus).” (Galatians 5:25)
Is my constant focus to know and to walk in step with Jesus and his Way?
When this is our focus, the Lord watches over us on the way, helping us to flourish!
PRAYER
Lord, I want to focus on your love day and night, so it will flourish in me day and night. As I meditate on your life, and take steps in your direction, help me to flourish with your love, joy, peace…

Connected: “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water”. Water is needed for life. Jesus offers living water – and like a tree close to the stream – staying connected to Jesus through the HS – sustains me and keeps me alive – gives me life and a purpose for living – living in step with Jesus. When a tree is planted it does not move – I too have my security planted in Jesus – being ‘grafted’ into the rootstock of Jesus!

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
    he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

    Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

think about it!

Worship is pure or base as the worshipper entertains high or low thoughts of God. We tend by a secret law of the soul to move toward our mental image of God.
