Right here, right now – praise!!!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 65
“Where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” (Psalm 65:8)
Every moment and every location has God all over it.
Jesus came to reconnect us to God, to knowing and being with God… always.
With Jesus, I can experience loving fellowship with God as my Father… everywhere.
David observes that every aspect of time and space reveals God’s glory.
I’ve read this before, I’ve also sung it before… but do I experience it?
Is God calling forth songs of joy in me right now, in the coffee shop?
Actually, He is, because He has led me to this place and passage right now.
This moment, this space, is a holy moment and space, filled with God.
As a Jesus follower I notice how Jesus relates to God – at all times.
Whether He is in the temple or the wilderness, He is with God.
From early in the morning, and all through the night, He enjoys His Father.
He understood that His life – beginning to end – was cloaked in God’s love.
This is what I want, to enjoy God everywhere and always, in every situation.
I can start right now – when morning gilds the skies!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, right here, right now, I am resting in the sense of God’s presence and love. I am surrounded and supported. Nothing can separate me from Your love!

  1. Interesting that an old hymn came to my mind as well when I reflected on v.8, “When Morning Gilds the Skies”. I sang it for years, but only remembered the title. As I reread the lyrics, I realize how powerful they are. Thanks for sharing!

    When morning gilds the skies,
    My heart awaking cries:
    May Jesus Christ be praised!
    Alike at work and prayer,
    To Jesus I repair;
    May Jesus Christ be praised!

    Does sadness fill my mind?
    A solace here I find,
    May Jesus Christ be praised!
    Or fades my earthly bliss?
    My comfort still is this,
    May Jesus Christ be praised!

    When sleep her balm denies,
    My silent spirit sighs,
    May Jesus Christ be praised!
    When evil thoughts molest,
With this I shield my breast:
    May Jesus Christ be praised!

    The night becomes as day
When from the heart we say:
    May Jesus Christ be praised!
    The pow’rs of darkness fear
When this sweet chant they hear:
    May Jesus Christ be praised!

    In heav’n’s eternal bliss
    The loveliest strain is this,
    May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let earth, and sea, and sky
    From depth to height reply,
    May Jesus Christ be praised!

Be this, while life is mine,
    My song of love divine:
    May Jesus Christ be praised!
    Sing this eternal song
    Through all the ages long:
    May Jesus Christ be praised!

  2. The first line of Psalm 65, “Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion;” prompted an old hymn to come to mind. I dug out my old blue psalter hymnal and found it: #114 — “Praise Waits for Thee in Zion”. I sang it aloud. I think it pleases God when we sing His words back to Him. And, it filled me up, too. I love the tune of this old German melody. I love the lyrics of this psalm/song! Our God is so good and He blesses us so abundantly! To Him be all the praise!

  3. He is everywhere.
My God hears my prayers. He hears the prayers of His people.
    And
His people see Him in all of His creation.
    This is God’s world.
He made it and it sings praises – songs of joy.
    God is in charge.
As He looks after His creation, so too
He takes care of His people.
Open my eyes Lord that I may see You everywhere.

Lord of all and ruler of nations,
You are God of all the earth.
Let all of Your people praise you
And sing of Your marvelous works.
Every knee shall bow before You,
    And every tongue will confess
That You are Lord… of all.
Yes, You are Lord… of all.

    Chorus (2x):
With every breath that I breathe
    I will praise You.
With every song that I sing
    I will praise You.
You are my God and my King,
    There’s no one greater.
For You are Lord… of all.
Yes, You are Lord… of all.

    Bridge (Repeat several times):
We worship You, all glory’s Yours
You are the Lord, the Lord of all
