    Observation/Application:
    Solomon the architect built the majestic structures and he fulfilled the promise to David that he would construct the temple. At its dedication, the glory of the Lord filled the temple so that the priests could not do their duties. Once again a sign of God dwelling among His people – a very visible sign. The leader of the people dedicated the temple infront of the people. This reminds me of ‘as the leader goes, so go the people.’
    But Solomon also knew that the temple could not contain the Lord for the creation is His. Solomon once again reminded the people and me that the earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it. We need to walk faithfully in His ways always! We need to be people of integrity. His Word needs to be my daily Guide to keep me on my ‘pilgrim’s progress’ each day so that I walk in His SonShine so that others may see that I am His and He is mine. Then I will not be a stumbling block – an object of ridicule – among the peoples.
    I too need to celebrate the good things the Lord has done in my life. My daily living for Jesus needs to be evidence of that walk. A holy walk with God. It is only He who is able to give the wisdom needed to live for Jesus.
    God blesses for service but with blessings also comes responsibilities. What is my Achilles’ heel? Solomon’s was women. They turned his heart. How do I keep in tune with God?
    I must follow His commands each day. Open my eyes Lord so that I see You each day. Help me to walk in Your SonShine daily according to Your Word. Lead me Guide me always.

    Prayer:
    Help me daily to see Your presence, Lord in my ‘pilgrim’s progress’ to the ‘holy city.’

    O Master, let me walk with Thee,
    In lowly paths of service free;
    Tell me Thy secret; help me bear
    The strain of toil, the fret of care.
    Help me the slow of heart to move
    By some clear, winning word of love;
    Teach me the wayward feet to stay,
    And guide them in the homeward way.
    O Master, let me walk with Thee,
    Before the taunting Pharisee;
    Help me to bear the sting of spite,
    The hate of men who hide Thy light.
    The sore distrust of souls sincere
    Who cannot read Thy judgments clear,
    The dullness of the multitude,
    Who dimly guess that Thou art good.
    Teach me Thy patience; still with Thee
    In closer, dearer, company,
    In work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
    In trust that triumphs over wrong.
    In hope that sends a shining ray
    Far down the future’s broadening way,
    In peace that only Thou canst give,
    With Thee, O Master, let me live.

think about it!

We should seek to become reservoirs rather than canals. For a canal just allows the water to flow through it, but a reservoir waits until it is filled before overflowing, then it can communicate without loss to itself. In the church today, we have many canals but few reservoirs.
