SCRIPTURE: Matthew 26:55-56
OBSERVATIONS/APPLICATION
“This has happened so that…” Jesus has a sense of destiny and purpose.
He sees His life as a part of God’s big story, of what God is doing in and for the world.
My purpose is not the exact same as Jesus, and yet it is similar to His.
I also have a sense of destiny and purpose, I am here according to God’s master plan.
Do I make myself available to God, do I invest myself in doing what God wants me to do?
And what if that involves risk, discomfort, sacrifice, suffering, will I still be available?
The disciples run away scared, but Jesus stays put.
I sense the Lord encouraging me to see my life as part of the big story too.
Thinking about my challenges, my struggles, my opportunities, can I say “this has happened so that…”
So that God’s Name may be honoured, so that God’s kingdom may come, so that God’s will may be done.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help me to see my life in light of Your kingdom and Your purpose. Help me to stand firm, and not run away.
