SCRIPTURE: Joshua 21
OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled. [Joshua 21:45]
I find this a good one to remember, to remind myself that when God makes a promise, He keeps it.
It may not always be in the way we expect, or when we hope for it.
But He is true to His word.
I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. [Matthew 5:18]
Jesus reaffirms this as well.
Even the least stroke of the pen, the smallest letter, has a purpose.
I tend to think that Jesus is using hyperbole to make a clear point, that God always keeps His promises.
I do not see this as evidence for subtle, secret mysteries contained within the letters and strokes (The Bible Code?).
What are some of the promises I can cling to:
• I am with you always.
• Nothing can separate me from the love of God.
• All things work together for good for those that love God.
• I am going to prepare a place for you.
• Whoever believes in Jesus will live forever!
• Our Father knows what we need even before we ask.
• I am forgiven, I am God’s child.
• The strong man has been bound, and I am free!
• I will send you another comforter/counsellor.
And so on, and so on. Until everything is accomplished!
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to keep Your words close to my heart, confident that You will keep all Your good promises!
