Reflecting on John 16:12-15
“When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16:13)
Jesus is not promising that we will fully understand everything.
This is not a guarantee that our theologies will be totally right.
Truth is not merely true information, but ultimate reality.
The way things are supposed to be, the way God made us to be.
The Spirit guides (literally ‘leads the way’), one step at a time, in that direction.
The Way is not a doctrine, it is a way of being and living.
It involves fulfilling God’s will, in word and deed, the will to love.
Jesus is the Way, the life that God made us to live, the life of love.
It is by that love He saves us, and to that love He leads us.
We are not left to our own devices, we have a guide for each day.
A guide does not force us, but invites us to follow.
Each day we face situations and choices that we must discern.
In that moment, do we look to our guide to discern how love would respond?
Do we ask Jesus to make known to us the better way to speak or act?
A guide is only helpful if we pat attention, ask questions, and follow them.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, Your Spirit is available to me, to show me how to think, speak and act in a loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled way. I have a guide, but am I using that guide?

I am practicing the way from day to day. i need to pray that the Lord wll lead and guide me in the Way each day by His Spirit. But I need to open my eyes and oen my ears to hear and see His guiding. I need to talk to my God throughout the day, as I serve him. Have Thine own Way Lord. Your will be done. Help me daily to be attune to Your leading. I need You every hour in order to do Your will. I depend on that.
