Dealing with my own blind spots!

Posted on February 28, 2024February 28, 2024 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 6:37-42

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Can the blind lead the blind?” (Luke 6:39)
How can we judge others if we can’t see for ourselves?
That plank in our eye makes it hard to see our own sins.
We are all ‘blind’ students who need help to be like the teacher.
Our teacher helps us to see our own weaknesses and growth areas.
Here Jesus warns us about the pit of judging others.
When we judge or focus on other’s sins, we act like the teacher.
We put ourselves above Jesus, instead of being below him.
If we are humble and gracious as we learn together, we advance.
Then what we give – encouragement and help – is what we get!
What are the issues in my life I need to work on?
What are the growth areas where I need to be more like Jesus.
Sure, other people have their issues and growth areas too.
But lets join hands and walk towards the teacher together.
Jesus can help us avoid the judging pit to grow more like him.
PRAYER
Lord, my issues and growth areas are huge to me, not to others. And theirs are huge to them, not to me. Humble us both as we stumble together towards being more like you.

    All too often we judge others by their outward appearance rather than their inner values. Clothes do not make the man. When we point at other people there is a finger pointing at that person but three fingers pointing back at me. I need to look at myself and see how I am right with God since my thumb points to Him. I need to follow His directives in all I say and do. I need to remember that I am His and He is mine and His banner over me is love, the love I need to share to all I meet and greet.

    1 Make me a channel of your peace:
    Where there is hatred, let me bring your love;
    where there is injury, your healing power,
    and where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

    2 Make me a channel of your peace:
    where there’s despair in life let me bring hope;
    Where there is darkness, only light,
    and where there’s sadness, ever joy.

    3 O, Spirit, grant that I may never seek
    so much to be consoled as to console,
    to be understood as to understand,
    to be loved as to love with all my soul.

    4 Make me a channel of your peace:
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    in giving to all that we receive,
    and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

think about it!

To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.
