The way of love and life!

Posted on December 30, 2023December 29, 2023 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Deuteronomy 29-30

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.” (Deuteronomy 30:15)
The way of love is coded into the DNA of God’s creation.
To choose faithful love for God and others leads to life and prosperity.
Any other way or pattern for living leads to death and destruction.
God is not warning about divine punishment, but creation consequences.
When humans refuse the way of love, the results are devastating.
When we see the laws of Moses through the lens of love, they make more sense.
We may question how Moses applied the Law of Love in his culture and context.
But from his limited perspective, he was protecting people from evil.
Injustice, inequity, violence, greed, selfishness, lust… death and destruction.
We still stand before this crossroads, and face the same choices.
Will we choose the Jesus Way of selfless, gracious love in how we live?
Jesus overcomes death and destruction by choosing love for God and people.
This is not only how we are saved, but also the life we are saved for.
As I face my own moments of decision, will I choose the Jesus way?
PRAYER
Lord, you have saved me from a life that leads to death and destruction, for a life that leads to life and prosperity. I choose this way of love and life!

Knowing God and following His desire for us – His commands – is choosing life. We are to have a godly mind set and Moses challenges us: “Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life,”
I’m so thankful for the gift of the HS who helps me to see – to have in mind what God desires. Help me Lord to seek your kingdom first!

think about it!

The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.
