The rock that is higher!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 61

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2)
I consider myself pretty strong and stable, but only so far.
My strength and stability have only been tested so far.
I have no gone through what many others have experienced.
I’m self aware enough that my strength and stability are limited.
Some people see faith as a crutch, but what is wrong with that?
When you know your limits or have a broken or unreliable leg…
I admit that I need a rock that is higher – more stable – than I.
For me, Jesus and the Jesus Way are that rock that is higher.
My confidence is not in me, but in one that is greater than me.
Right now I say that with a certain strength and stability.
My hope is that I cling to this rock when things get hard.
I long to be in this place always, but I know that storms will come.
Right now I am trying to build myself on the rock higher than me.
May this rock keep me from crashing down when the storm comes.
PRAYER
Lord, keep me strong and stable in you. And when the storm comes, help me to hang on to you, not trust my own strength and stability.

  1. “I lift my eyes up to the hills – where does my help come from ?” Lord you are the rock that is higher than I – I find refuge in you – I have and I will continue to seek it! Thank you Lord that you are there! You carry me through!

  2. This is my Father’s world. I am His and He is mine. He is my Strength and Refuge. He is the wind beneath my wings. All of my life I need to praise Him for He is my God and I need to serve Him. At all times He is with me. At all times I can call on His name. At all times I need Him, to lead me and guide me in the Way. Putting my hand into His large hand to lead me and guide me daily is the only way to live. That’s comfort.

    Refrain:
All of my life, I will praise the living God,
    My heart full of joy,
I will bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    And never forget his gifts.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    He pardons all our sins.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He saves us from all harm.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He fills our life with good.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    He keeps us ever young.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    His mercy never ends.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    His kindness never ends.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    His promises he keeps.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He died to bring us life.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He is the Bread of Life.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
In him we find all love.
