Shine Jesus, shine!!!!!!!

Posted on October 29, 2023October 28, 2023 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 57

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” (Psalm 57:8)
During the dark night of the soul, it is hard cling to hope.
David is anxiously hiding in a dark cave at night from Saul and his soldiers.
It is dark, and he cries for the glorious sun to rise and crush the darkness.
His soul is giving in to the sleepy tendrils of despair.
“Awake my soul” is a scream, not just a line in a poem.
Wake up, make noise, so that the dawn wakes up with the sunrise.
David’s battle is very real; our own battles are real too.
However the darkness is coming at you, it is overwhelming.
In these moments, “cry out” (57:1) to the Lord to wake up and shine!
As a Jesus follower there are times when the darkness seems stronger.
Right now our world seems especially dark, and it is infecting my spirit too.
Like David I need to stand fast, and scream my hope that the dawn will come!
“Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory.
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire!”
PRAYER
Lord, wake up and shine your love, joy and peace in this screwed up world, and in this cave where I am hiding. Be exalted, and let your glory be all over the earth!

David as a refugee is totally dependent on God – though he sometimes tries to save himself, he recognizes it is God that saves him. On this occasion David is so overwhelmed with thanks and praise that he says: “Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” David is ready to shake up the world – wake up he says, wake up, forget the darkness – let the light shine! “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.” David experiences God’s faithfulness to him. I too have and continue to experience God’s faithfulness even when I don’t deserve it! God is good!

This is God’s world! In the beginning He created and it was all good. And now – the creation groans as do the people. But at all time I need to see and sings the praises of God For this is His world and He will do as He has promised. He is the Victor and I need to praise Him in all of my situations. Our world need to recognize my God and serve Him. Nothing else can bring peace to the world nor peace to my soul.

    Verse 1
    Be Thou exalted, O God,
    Above the heavens:
    Let Thy glory,
    Be above all the earth!

    Be Thou exalted, O God,
    Above the heavens:
    Let Thy glory,
    Let Thy glory,
    Let Thy glory,
    Be above all the earth!

    Verse 2
    Be Thou exalted, O God,
    Above the heavens:
    Let Thy glory,
    Be above all the earth!

    Be Thou exalted, O God,
    Above the heavens:
    Let Thy glory,
    Let Thy glory,
    Let Thy glory,
    Be above all the earth!
