Standing in the way of Jesus’s blessing?

Posted on October 16, 2023October 14, 2023 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 10:13-16

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“He took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.” (Mark 10:16)
I believe that one of the greatest needs we all have is to be blessed.
Many adults struggle through life because they were deprived of this blessing.
By ‘blessing’ I don’t mean the good things we enjoy in life and are thankful for.
I mean the experience of being loved, accepted, valued and secure.
Ever since we rejected fellowship with God in the garden, we’ve lost this blessing.
We desperately want to be loved, but those who should love us like this do not.
So many people are rebuked and held back from God’s love when they should be embraced.
God sent Jesus to come to us personally, to physically touch us and bless us.
Yet how many children and adults feel unworthy and unlovable, to God and to others.
Jesus is indignant when his followers get in the way of the ‘little ones’.
Jesus is eager to bless everyone, so that they can find their way back to God.
We ought to be eager to bless everyone, to extend God’s gracious hand of blessing to them.
Not because they deserve it – no one does – but because we all need it desperately.
What ‘little ones’ desperately need to experience Jesus’s hand of blessing through you?
PRAYER
Lord, may I not stand in the way of others experiencing your hand of blessing. Use my hands to bless others so that they can find their way back to God!

    Childlike faith and trust is what I need! Rationalism and thinking I know it all – gets in the way. Lord keep me humble and trusting you fully – help me to grow in trust every day!

    Kids of the kingdom, that’s who we are.
    Children are dependent upon their parents for they not do things by themselves. We all rely upon our heavenly Father for we all depend upon Him for our every need. We never lose our need to depend wholly on Jesus.

    Nothing in my hand I bring,
    simply to the cross I cling;
    naked, come to thee for dress;
    helpless, look to thee for grace;
    foul, I to the fountain fly;
    wash me, Savior, or I die.

think about it!

And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives… and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.
