What am I seeking first?

Posted on November 14, 2022November 12, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Matthew 6:25-34

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness…” (Matthew 6:33)
It seems to me that what is missing in our lives is a worthy goal.
We set our sights too narrowly, looking out for ourselves and those we love.
We invest ourselves in our own needs, helping ourselves most of all.
We strive, we worry, we fervently seek our own kingdom and happiness.
This may seem harsh, and no doubt there are exceptions out there.
But if I consider how I focus and invest my time, it rings true for me.
Jesus is not against my happiness, but not at the expense of others.
God designed his kingdom for everyone to enjoy, to be happy.
What if we as Jesus followers had a sense of kingdom purpose, a sense of mission.
‘Calling’ is not just for ministers; we are all called in unique ways for kingdom work.
To spread goodness, to help those who struggle, to forgive, encourage and bless.
Our world needs more Jesus followers pursuing God’s kingdom dream for everyone.
God will take care of our daily needs, as we devote ourselves to his kingdom needs.
As we pursue justice and rightness for everyone, we find ourselves blessed too!
PRAYER
Lord, I want to devote myself to spreading your kingdom goodness, and to trust you for what I need. Help me grow my sense of kingdom purpose and calling.

    Do not worry – yet I find that I often do. I worry that I will do it right – do the right thing, say the right thing – like Moses worried that I might stumble. I realize I need to take the “I” out – rather Jesus says, concentrate on the kingdom – listen to the HS’s leading! When I look back and even in the present, I see how God has provided, even in trying circumstances and I know many more will be coming. I need to fully trust that God will provide – Lord help me to serve and to encourage others to have the right focus as well!

    Why worry?
    What does worrying accomplish? More worry.
    Trust God. Seek Him. Serve Him. God will take care of you.
    Live the JOY principal each day. Live for Jesus.

    1 Seek ye first the kingdom of God
    And His righteousness;
    And all these things shall be added unto you.
    Hallelu, Hallelujah!

    2 Ask, and it shall be given unto you;
    Seek, and you shall find.
    Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
    Hallelu, Hallelujah!

    3 Man shall not live by bread alone,
    But by every word
    That proceeds out from the mouth of God.
    Hallelu, Hallelujah!

    God will take care of you,
    through ev’ry day, o’er all the way;
    He will take care of you,
    God will take care of you.

think about it!

I’d do it differently if I had another chance. I’d make a positive and sustained attempt to use judicious praise rather than find fault, to warmly accept rather than critique. Most of the people I know up close need a break.
