My kind of king!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 2

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” (Psalm 2:12)
David is writing this psalm about himself, but it is really pointing to Jesus.
David reigned for a while but died; Jesus the Son of David also died, but beat death!
He now rules over all creation, and everyone who takes refuge in his is blessed!
Jesus is the kind of ruler God intended, and the kind of Ruler we need!
Not a violent, arrogant, self-serving and people-domineering king.
He appeared weak, and the powers conspired against him, and couldn’t beat him.
His kingdom is all about love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, etc.
These are the chains and shackles he imposes on us… I’ll take these anytime.
Look at how Putin is ‘restoring peace and order’ to the people of Ukraine.
This is NOT the kind of king Jesus is, not the kind of king God wants.
I serve this king with joy, not fear; I celebrate his rule with rejoicing, not trembling.
Sadly, rulers today (both political and religious) resist his kingdom rule.
And many people are burdened and oppressed under their chains and shackles.
This is why I point people to Jesus; blessed are all who take refuge in him!
PRAYER
Lord, I long for you as my king, and I want the kingdom you came to bring. I serve you with joy, and celebrate your rule with rejoicing!

  1. Do I take God too casually? I’m pleased that Jesus said I could call God my heavenly Father – but do I take his expectations of me to lightly. After all the Psalmist says: “Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.” The trembling is in respect to God’s awesome power and might – how can I be casual about that. I’ve read scriptures who were frightened in the presence of God – and I know if God would come close I would be trembling too. Yet God comes to me by the HS – I may feel his presence and I pray draw me closer to you – help to live for you and serve you Lord Jesus – I respect your awesomeness and the victory you won by laying down your life so that I could live!

  2. He reigns.
    Serve Him.
He is the wind beneath my wings giving me the power to live for Him which needs to be evident in mt words and deeds. All for Jesus. It is in His power and strength that I serve in His Kingdom. Today is the Lord’s Day as is every day.

Our God is great and Glorious
We put our trust in Your Name, Jesus
Able to save and deliver us
We put our hope in Your Name, Jesus
Blessing and honor, glory and power
Unto our God forever and ever
All of the honor, all of the praise is Yours, Yours forever
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Our God reigns
    Hallelujah, Hallelujah
    Our God reigns
