Why we have the Spirit!

Posted on March 30, 2022March 31, 2022 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Acts 2:14-21

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:21)
Christians have had many debates about tongue speaking; is tongue speaking still a thing?
They have also argued about the end times, and about signs and wonders.
When will “the sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood”? (2:20)
We can have lots of debates about a lot of things, even deep divisions.
But lets not forget what this is all about, that people might be saved.
God did not come into the world to perform signs and wonders.
The signs and wonders are incidental compared to what really matters.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)
We receive the Spirit not to argue, but to witness, to share Jesus with people.
The Spirit is in us so that we can be witnesses “to the ends of the earth” (1:8).
Not just with words but also with deeds – to share the wonder of his gracious love!
Have we who received the Spirit lost this Spirit, or are we quenching it?
Are we concerned about the lost like Jesus was, eager to share his love with them?
Instead of seeking tongues, signs and wonders, seek opportunities to love people.
PRAYER
Lord, the world is filled with blood and fire and billows of smoke. But help us keep our eyes on you and your passion for the lost, and to declare and demonstrate your wonders to them!

    “Your sons and daughters will prophesy,” WE see that – the HS is not gender exclusive. The HS enlightens men and women to expound the wonders of the good news! The disciples were told to wait for it – so should we. Not go alone but go with the Spirit. Even if I dared to go on my own, I think I would be like Peter stepping on the water and sinking. No I need to walk in the light of the presence of the HS to be effective for God’s Kingdom. It is then that I am encouraged and confident. HS mold me, fill me, use me – I pray!

    Spirit driven.
    God equips His people His Word to proclaim. That Word gives life and life eternal. All who call upon Him will be with Him forevermore. You and I need to be living epistles read by all so that they too will know that Jesus saves. At all times and in all circumstances, Jesus is the answer. Serve Him.

    We have heard the joyful sound:
    Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
    Spread the tidings all around:
    Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
    Bear the news to ev’ry land,
    Climb the steeps and cross the waves;
    Onward! ’tis our Lord’s command;
    Jesus saves! Jesus saves!

think about it!

Evangelism is not a professional job for a few trained men, but is instead the unrelenting responsibility of every person who belongs to the company of Jesus.
