God’s sanctuary!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 114

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion.” (Psalm 114:2)
I am not Jewish, yet I still find these words very comforting.
Israel, or the Jews, experienced God in a very special way.
God moved in with them, God was present among them in power (v.7).
They were nobodies… slaves, refugees, hardly worth calling a nation.
Yet the sea and mountains jumped when they showed up… why?
It was not their greatness that made them great, but their God that made them great.
God did not choose Israel for Israel, but for the sake of all nations.
“I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing…
All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2-3)

“My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Isaiah 56:7)
Through Jesus, God moves in with us, and makes us great.
I am a nobody, yet God in Jesus has made me his sanctuary… and you too.
This is true for all people, yet not all people know it or accept it.
Maybe someone should tell them, that God loves and lives in them too!
PRAYER
Lord, I am blessed to know you, to know your presence and power in me, making me great. Thank you for reminding me that you have blessed me to bless others through me!

  1. “Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord”. Looking into the night sky or the view from 40,000 feet on a bright day – looking up or down – or at the edge of the grand canyon – I am totally awed at our sovereign creator God’s handwork. As the Psalmist says all creation trembles – and so would I – but I may also know this God as a loving Father – that I find my sanctuary in him! Thank you Jesus for the dark stain of sin that stands in the way is washed clean- therefore I need not fear as I enter the sanctuary to be with my heavenly Father.

  2. Remember the presence of the Lord and what He did for His people then?
I also need to remember what the Lord God does for His people today including me and my family. Each and every day He is with me and I need open eyes, an open heart, open ears as He leads me and guides me in the Way. My journey of learning continue in joy.

    When upon life’s billows
    You are tempest tossed
    When you are discouraged
    Thinking all is lost
    Count your many blessings
    Name them one by one
    And it will surprise you
    What the lord has done
    Count your blessings
    Name them one by one
    Count your blessings
    See what God has done
