Tell your story!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 107

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story…” (Psalm 107:2)
As followers of Jesus we accept that Jesus has rescued us.
‘This is our story, this is our song…’ and it gives us joy.
But it is not enough simply to accept this gift, and leave it at that.
“Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)
Again and again we are urged to share this gift with others, to offer them hope.
Not as a law – because we are told to – but as a gift freely shared.
Telling our unique Jesus story is God’s way of helping others.
This psalm contains unique stories from a different people in a different time.
But tying these stories together is God’s grace and goodness at work to help.
Those who hear our stories are urged to heed and ponder them for themselves.
My job is not to convince them, just to share my experience with them.
God’s Spirit uses our testimony to speak to their hearts, to draw them home.
This is how the bible works too: their God-inspired stories are testimonies for us.
The redeemed told their story… and we are invited to do the same!
PRAYER
Lord, my story is not like these stories, or anyone else’s. My story is our story, how you have uniquely worked in my life to redeem me. Help me to trust that you can speak through my story too.

  1. Call on the Lord – return to Him whether in distress and out of desperation or in prosperity when wealth and success intoxicates and distracts one’s long-term thinking – call on the Lord for He is faithful – nothing else endures but the faithfulness and grace of our God through Jesus Christ. Lord, thank you for times that you had to ‘shake me up’ and remind me who I am – when my own ego and ‘self-sufficiency’ stood in the way of acknowledging who I really am: a sinner needing your forgiveness and grace. A follower who needs your guiding hand and sometimes to carry me!

  2. Jesus is my Rock. I need to talk to Him always – in my joy and in my sorrow. He is my Constant Guide. I need His hand to lead me and guide me always. I need the attitude of gratitude seeing how He has been and still is with me always. Praise Him for His constant love and the daily blessings received each day anew.

    1 Praise him, praise him,
    praise him in the morning,
    praise him in the noontime.
    Praise him, praise him,
praise him when the sun goes down.

    2 Love him, love him,
    love him in the morning,
    love him in the noontime.
    love him, love him,
love him when the sun goes down.

    3 Trust him, trust him,
    trust him in the morning,
    trust him in the noontime.
    Trust him, trust him,
trust him when the sun goes down.

    4 Serve him, serve him,
    serve him in the morning,
    serve him in the noontime.
    Serve him, serve him,
serve him when the sun goes down.

    5 Jesus, Jesus,
    Jesus in the morning,
    Jesus in the noontime.
    Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus when the sun goes down.
