Always ready to forgive!

Posted on May 16, 2021May 14, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 85

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Will you be angry with us forever?” (Psalm 85:5)
What happens when a disciple of Jesus messes up, or turns aside.
Have we blown our chance with God, is there no room for mercy?
This psalm expresses this prayer for mercy after a disciple has sinned.
They are struggling because of bad choices, and feel God’s displeasure.
Yes, there is room for mercy, yes there is hope for revival.
Jesus commanded forgiveness seventy times seven (Matthew 18:21-22).
But he does not ask of us what he does not first give to us.
We are graced, we are forgiven, even when we blow it big time.
If we come to him knowing our sin and shame, he does not ignore us.
He has already forgiven us, but we need to repent to receive it.
“The Lord will indeed give what is good” (v.12), but will we accept it?
If you are feeling like you’ve wandered from God, know that he is waiting.
Like the father of the prodigal, he is waiting for you to look to him.
The moment you turn to him, he runs to you with love, forgiveness and joy.
PRAYER
Lord, why do so many people see you as harsh or unforgiving? Refresh how we know you so that we can always feel welcome to come back to you, no matter what.

“Restore us…The Lord will indeed give what is good”. I know that I need to be restored – my sinful thoughts and ways can set me on the wrong way – but I’m comforted that even in the ‘discipline’ that I may be subjected to, God is faithful and He restores me – yes He does what is good for me! HS continue to work in me your work of restoration – that truly “Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other” – it is when I am right with God that enjoy inner peace!

‘let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.’ was my first reading this morning. The Lord forgives, restores, to all who return and walk in His Way. Hear Him and delight Him and walk in His Sonhine and be a blessing to all those around.

    God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me

    He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness, He’ll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and Earth will fade but His word will still remain
And He will do something new today

think about it!

It is in the ordinary duties and labors of life that the Christian can and should develop his spiritual union with God.
