Success in the Lord!

Posted on February 13, 2021February 12, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: 1 Chronicles 18-19

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.” (1 Chronicles 18:13)
These Chronicles were written after the exile, when the Jews had returned to Israel.
They tell stories that show how the Lord helps them when they serve the Lord.
They are assuring the Jews that if they stick with the Lord, he will stick with them.
The Lord helped David experience victories against armies greater than their own.
But the stress is on how it was the Lord, and not their own strength.
By ourselves we cannot experience victory over satan, sin and death.
“Remain in me… apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5)
The Spirit is reminding me that the Lord is my strength and hope.
This is not the secret to success in the world, but to success with the Lord.
Success over sin and temptation, and success in our kingdom calling for Jesus.
We are enabled to do what Jesus did – even greater – for the kingdom (John 14:12).
Kingdom service, blessing our neighbor, helping those in need, sharing the love of Jesus.
“Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.” (William Carey)
The Lord will give us kingdom victory wherever he sends us too.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to remain in you and in your purpose, so that you can do great things through me!

Lord thank you for blessing the work of our hands when our hands are doing work for you! Give us discernment to know what is for you and what we do for ourselves!

When Joab and his brother Abishai were in between 2 battle lines, they split up to fight both lines – Joab at that time said: “The Lord will do what is good in his sight.” It seemed like an impossible situation – fighting the enemy in front and behind – yet they fought and trusted that the Lord would intervene and fight as well in accordance with the Lord’s will. Sometimes I may ask specifically for something to go my way – rather than thinking what is the Lord’s way – knowing that the Lord will do what is good in his sight! Sometimes I need to see the big picture and I need patience. Looking back I can see that the Lord did care!

David administered justice and equity to all his people. He served the Lord and the Lord gave him the victory. Leaders today need to do the same – serving justice and equity to the people. And the people need to realize that it is only through Him can we have the victory. I need to walk with Him each day for it is only by His Spirit leading and guiding me can I be a servant in His Kingdom.

    Make me a servant
    Humble and meek
    Lord let me lift up
    Those who are weak
    And may the prayer
    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today

    Of my heart always be
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant
    Make me a servant today

think about it!

Some people are kind, polite and sweet-spirited — until you try to get into their pew.
