Renew my zeal!

Posted on January 24, 2021January 23, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 69

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“For zeal for your house consumes me.” (Psalm 69:9)
David’s heart was on fire for God, even if it meant suffering.
His zeal was for building, maintaining and protecting God’s temple.
The temple represented God living with, at home with his people.
In its time, it served as a reminder of God’s desire for all creation.
Through Jesus, God steps into the world to be with us.
John quotes this psalm to describe Jesus’ actions in the temple (John 2:17).
But it was not just for the building, it was for the people!
“My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Mark 11:17)
Do I share this passion for God and for His family?
Am I devoting myself to building, maintaining and protecting God’s family?
My zeal is not for the church as a building, for the church as a people.
And not just those ‘in church’, but the WHOLE family of God.
Jesus is zealous for us to be zealous for the nations.
Jesus is consumed by zeal for me, and for my neighbours near and far… am I?
PRAYER
Lord, renew my passion for all people, that they may know your passion for them.

Ridicule – because I believe in Jesus as the only way to the Father – to life! Lord Jesus, help me to bear witness to your exclusive claim and share it in a way that “those who seek you not be put to shame because of me.” Sharing the truth of Jesus while not being condescending or judgmental. Help me to be faithful to the hope that I have in you, even when times it can be tough. May I claim like the Psalmist: “But as for me, afflicted and in pain—may your salvation, God, protect me.” Help me to stay strong, wise and discerning I pray!

At all times I will serve the living God. May my heart be steadfast seeking Him. May others also see Christ Jesus living in me. I need to be a person of integrity. Praise Him. Let the peoples praise Him. Let the whole world praise Him. I need to praise Him at all times for God is God and He is my Refuge.

    Praise him praise him
    Praise him praise him
    Jesus blessed savior
He’s worthy to be praised (repeat)

From the rising of the son
Until the going down of the saint
He is worthy Jesus is worthy
    He’s worthy to be praised

Glory glory (oh let’s give god the glory)
Glory glory (oh let’s give him the glory)
    Jesus blessed savior (blessed savior)
He’s worthy to be praised (he’s worthy to be praised)

God is our rock (is our rock)
    Hope of salvation (of salvation)
A strong deliverer (a strong deliverer)
In him will i always trust (in him will i trust)

Praise him praise him (oh let us praise him)
Praise him praise him (oh let us praise him)

think about it!

Hope means hoping when things are hopeless or it is no virtue at all. It is only when everything is hopeless that hope begins to be a strength.
