PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 16:1-8
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“You are looking for Jesus… he is not here!” (Mark 16:6)
If you were looking for Jesus, where would you look?
The women would naturally look for Jesus’ body in the tomb.
These women were looking for a dead Jesus, but Jesus was (and is) alive!
Centuries have passed since he died, can we still look for him?
I’ve heard people complain Jesus (or God) didn’t show up how they wanted him to.
He did not help them, answer their prayer as they expected and wanted him.
I get the frustration, I have also experienced this myself.
But in my case I realize now I was looking for the wrong Jesus.
The disciples hoped Jesus would beat Rome; Jesus came to beat Satan, sin and death.
Jesus wants to help us in the same way, and not just meet our personal desires.
By his Spirit he can live in/with you and give you spiritual strength and hope!
Jesus is with you, even if you do not realize it; ask him to show himself!
It may not be as you expect, but it will be more than you imagined.
What the angel said is still true: He has risen, you will see him!
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for meeting me in my heart when I seek you. Thank you for the courage, strength, wisdom and guidance you give me each day, and for the solid hope that one day I will overcome with you! Finding you this way has changed my life!
I can just imagine the women going to the tomb – totally spooked: an angel, the words, the missing Jesus – they had carefully gathered and prepared to process Jesus body with spices, oil, perfumes – as loving acts of devotion – and now this unbelievable – literally unbelievable – even though if they could get over the shock – they may have remembered what Jesus said – but their minds were totally de-railed! I know I would have been – and am still – when I think that God’s son would do this for sinful mankind?? For me?? Unbelievable grace! Just unbelievable – but believe I will! Thanks be to God – his gift of the spirit convicts me and reassures me that what may seem unbelievable – is completely true!!
It was the women who went out to the tomb first, not the apostles. The stone was rolled away while being heavily guarded. God was/is at work. And hearing in past what He said, they forgot His words about His resurrection. He still speaks today and I need open ears to hear. Too often I am like the women because of fear. Lead me and guide me Lord as your follower true.
I AM WEAK AND I NEED THY STRENGTH AND POWER
TO HELP ME O-VER MY WEAKEST HOUR
LEAD ME THROUGH THE DARKNESS THY FACE TO SEE
LEAD ME OH LORD LEAD ME
CHORUS
LEAD ME, GUIDE ME, ALONG THE WAY
FOR IF YOU LEAD ME I CANNOT NOT STRAY
LORD LET ME WALK, EACH DAY WITH THEE
LEAD ME OH LORD LEAD ME
