PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 14:60-65
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“‘Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am’, said Jesus.” (Mark 14:61-62)
When “Son” language is used of Jesus, it refers to Him as the promised Messiah.
It means a faithful and righteous human (Adam), after God’s own heart.
The promised offspring of a woman that would beat sin and Satan (Genesis 3:15).
Jesus applies to himself Daniel’s prophecy of the coming Son of Man (Daniel 7:13-14)
He is not claiming to be God; He is claiming to be God’s Messiah.
As a Jesus follower, I believe that Jesus is the hope of the world.
For many this seems odd because Jesus seems so weak, so helpless.
But what makes Jesus great is his refusal to resort to violence or revenge.
The religious leaders show what kind of people they are, by their violence.
Jesus beats evil by his goodness and his refusal to play the devil’s game.
Jesus obeys where Adam (and we) failed and takes back the throne for God.
Jesus is the kind of human that pleases God, and he inspires me too!
Not violent or arrogant or self-serving but the epitome of humility and love.
I choose to stand with this Messiah, because he is the Messiah our world needs.
PRAYER
Lord, by myself I cannot follow your way of humility and love. Thank you for crushing sin and Satan for me, and for helping me grow in humility and love.
