PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 63
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.” (Psalm 63:8)
Life in this world can be very difficult.
For many people, its a struggle for survival, to hang on.
This is not my experience, but I know many people living like this.
Its seems simplistic to say, ‘hang on to God, he’s hanging on to you!’
And yet what other hope have I got to offer?
If God’s help is not enough, nothing else will be.
In my own personal struggles, I have found strength in God’s hands.
My struggles do not always go away, but I am better positioned for them.
Like David, I have God’s presence and purpose to hang on to…
And hanging on to me… God’s hand upholds me, even when I let go.
Jesus is my model in this, a picture of calm in the midst of the storm.
Hanging on to his Father, even when it seems his Father lets go of him.
And overcoming Satan, sin, death and hell – rising up in glory!
Jesus opened the way to victory for us; hang on to him, even as he hangs on to you!
PRAYER
Lord, when all around me seems messed up and painful, I lift my hands up to you, and sense your hands surrounding me. There’s no better place to be!
“I will be fully satisfied!” The Psalmist’s longing and contentment in God alone is beyond anything that this life can offer! May I see it that way too! It seems that it’s never good enough – we long for something, we get it – then we long for something else – it’s being perpetually hungry but never sated – not here – not by this present life. I will be fully satisfied in God alone! I belong to Him – and that is where I will find contentment. I believe it more and more- help me Lord to be drawn in deeper intimacy with you even as I live this life!
Putting my hand into His large hand – that is comfort.
He is the wind beneath my wings for He upholds me. And while I wait for sleep, He watches my keep, for His name is on my lips while I talk with my Lord. I just need to walk/journey in His ‘SonShine.’
Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water;
Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea.
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently,
By putting your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee.
