PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 11:27-33
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“I will ask you a question.” (Mark 11:29)
The religious leaders are angry after what happened in the temple.
They come to interrogate Jesus, but he interrogates them.
Through his question he reveals that they are not interested in the truth.
They are speaking from selfish ignorance, to serve and protect themselves.
Many times we interrogate God with accusations and critiques.
We evaluate God’s ways and actions, and act as if we know better.
Job is another example of this, with how he questions God’s ways.
“Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.” (Job 38:1-3)
Faced with God’s question, Job’s pride and ignorance are revealed.
“Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.” (Job 42:3)
We like to put God to the test, but how would we stand if God tested us.
Do we really want to learn the truth, about God and ourselves?
The truth is that we are extremely prideful and ignorant, with no right to accuse God.
One day when I see Jesus; will I kneel in humility or foolishly try to interrogate him?
PRAYER
Lord, I already know that when you question me, my answers will be lame. I do not understand, but I trust that you do. You understand me, and you love me.
It comes to faith – believing that Jesus is all that He has told us and revealed to us that He is! I must see with eyes of faith – only then can I see the light – the truth. Thank you Jesus for coming to me – for the gift of your spirit. Help me to help others to open their eyes of faith. Help me to be an effective witness bearer of all that you have done in my life as as testimony for others to test your claim: I am the Way to the Father!
Lord thank you for reminding me that you are not there to respond to my tests, but I am to rise to your challenges and commands.
Once again the religious leaders tried to test Jesus who thought their roles were more important than God’s way. God is first in all things. His way before mine. One day He will ask how we served in His kingdom. I was created to serve. Not to question my purpose for there is but one. Serve Him.
I serve a risen Savior
He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
