More people like Jesus

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 52

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero?” (Psalm 52:1)
In 1 Samuel 21-22, Doeg betrays David and kills the priests and citizens of Nob.
This Psalm expresses David’s confidence in God despite this horrific situation.
Love for God and people does not mean that we ignore injustice or abuse or cruelty.
Neither should we take matters into our own hands.
In the face of injustice, we put our confidence in God’s justice.
Today we still hear about bullying, abuse, rape, crime, poverty, racism, etc.
The cycle of violence and oppression continues unabated… how will it end?
“I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.” (Psalm 52:8)
God will deal with each person’ sin and shame, with both justice and mercy.
In Jesus we see God’s “mighty hero”, we can boast in Him!
Jesus is challenging me to join with Him in standing up for victims of violence.
Trusting Jesus is not just accepting His mercy, it also means sharing His mercy!
There will always be people like Doeg in the world…
But how many people like Jesus will there be?
PRAYER
Lord, cruelty and injustice are still happening. I trust that You are God’s answer to these problems. Help me to trust You enough to join You in overcoming evil with good!

    Who or what can I trust? With the Psalmist – only God is truly reliable. I can’t even trust myself – for I too am vulnerable and may follow my own ego and desires – not necessarily what is good for me! Help me to listen and trust – patiently to wait on the Lord! Give me the strength to face up to evil – knowing that I need the Lord!

    No one can escape the penalty of sin. We can not undo what we have done. But we can seek God’s forgiveness and mercy. Walk daily with Him. Trust and obey and always walk in His SonShine.

    1
    Seek ye first the kingdom of God
    And His righteousness;
    And all these things shall be added unto you.
    Hallelu, Hallelujah!
    2
    Ask, and it shall be given unto you;
    Seek, and you shall find.
    Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
    Hallelu, Hallelujah!
    3
    Man shall not live by bread alone,
    But by every word
    That proceeds out from the mouth of God.
    Hallelu, Hallelujah!

think about it!

Its not so much a matter of what we believe, but really who we believe in, how we believe, and who we believe with.
