Flourish with grace!

Posted on August 11, 2020August 10, 2020 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 4:21-25

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Whoever has will be given more…” (Mark 4:25)
In this context, Jesus is still talking about the result of God’s message in our lives.
God wants to bring His goodness out into the open through us.
To shine like a light in a dark world, to flourish like a bumper crop in a wasteland.
What we do with God’s message – the goodness it produces – will be our reward.
If we’re stingy with grace, our experience of grace will be small.
If we embrace the message, allow it to shine and grow in us, we receive even more.
If we do not eagerly reproduce God’s goodness, we will lose what little we have.
Open hearts will be opened up even more, and receive more than we can imagine.
Closed hearts will be closed up, and shrivel into nothing at all.
As Jesus followers we are God’s chosen way to restore His kingdom of goodness.
Jesus promises that if we attempt to have fruit, He will increase it even more.
But He also warns that we will lose what little we have, if we do nothing with it.
How we respond to Jesus’ message determines an abundant or empty life.
How we respond to Jesus’ message affects how our world flourishes or flounders.
PRAYER
Lord, I want to flourish. May Your goodness shine through me, may my character reveal Your amazing grace to me.

As a Jesus follower I have received ‘light’ – and it’s brightness is meant to be shared – not to be hoarded by me – just for me. I’m saved now so I’m not going to concern myself with others. That would be the same foolishness as putting a lamp under a bed – hidden under a bowl – why have the light in the first place? Then Jesus says it will be taken from me – because I’ve never shared the light. Lord Jesus, help me to shine for you in this world!

    LightShine.
His light need to shine through me. Others need to see Christ in me by my words and deeds.
Remember the monkey trying to get his clinched fist out of the jar? Couldn’t, since it was a fist.
I need to have an open hand sharing what I have received. God has blessed me and I need to be a blessing to others.
    LightShine through His SonShine.

    Shine, Jesus, shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, Set our hearts on fire
    Flow, river, flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your Word, Lord And let there be light
    Shine, Jesus, shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, Set our hearts on fire
    Flow, river, flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth Your Word, Lord And let there be light

think about it!

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

— Martin Luther King, Jr.
