In His Hands!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 31

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“My times are in your hands!” (Psalm 31:15)
As I write this, the world is dealing with the coronavirus crisis.
I find a few lines in this psalm make it relevant to this crisis.
We are experiencing isolation and fear too (see vv.11,13).
The enemy is a virus, not a person, but it is still real.
How are we responding to this crisis, are we giving in to the fear?
I am reminded by the psalmist to surrender myself to the Lord.
This season in life is in His hands too, even if I don’t sense it.
The Lord has navigated many terrible crises through the centuries.
He is walking with us through this time, and will lead us through it.
I believe we will see more troubles in the coming decades.
But as through previous centuries, Jesus will continue to overcome the world.
We too can entrust our spirit into His hands (Psalm 31:5, Luke 23:46).
He promises us that “no one will snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:28)
I am encouraged to make this my daily prayer: “My times are in your hands!” (Psalm 31:15)
PRAYER
Lord, I surrender my life to You, and choose to trust You to help and to guide me through these times.

  1. David had to flee and he had to wait for the day that the Lord would establish him as King. It wasn’t easy for him to wait – and many Psalms reflect that – yet so many phrases of trust in the face of anxiety come through: my times are in your hand; for all those that fear you – in the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men, you store them in your shelter; be strong take courage all you who wait for the Lord! I must learn to wait! I must live today as David did – in the sure knowledge that God will protect me. I must wait actively – being busy doing – following Jesus’ way. The day is coming!

  2. Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    He is my Guardian and Guide. I need to always call upon His name. He is my Comfort and Stronghold. He is my God. I am His and He is mine. He will take care of me.

    Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
    God will take care of you;
    Beneath His wings of love abide,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain

    God will take care of you,
    Through every day, o’er all the way;
    He will take care of you,
    God will take care of you.

    Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
    God will take care of you;
    When dangers fierce your path assail,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain

    All you may need He will provide,
    God will take care of you;
    Nothing you ask will be denied,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain

    No matter what may be the test,
    God will take care of you;
    Lean, weary one, upon His breast,
    God will take care of you.
